Team Development
Cumulus Outdoor Events runs outdoor teambuilding programs for departments, offices, working groups, potential teams and real teams in order for them to develop the skills, ethos and drive to become high performing teams. These programs are teambuilding for teams that already exist or those that are just about to or have recently formed. An example of our work can be found in our case studies pages, such as Team Development Waitrose.
We find that Cumulus works with differing types of teams:
High Performing Teams: An experienced, well established team whose members are committed to each others’ personal development, are highly effective and hugely successful. These teams are typically are also conscious that they need to review performance and skills whilst regularly reflecting upon their work commitments and changing working environments. Cumulus Outdoor Events run programs to help high performing teams to take a breath, step back and consider how to fine tune their team and prepare it for changing conditions.
Real Teams: Teams that have significant team skills within its members. With people who understand and are committed to the team’s purpose, objectives and approach to its work. These teams are working well and are seen to be achieving their objectives. Cumulus offers these teams and their members coaching on team development issues including how to monitor and coach each other, offer quality feedback, setting challenging goals whilst also being able to support one and other.
Potential Teams: Teams that recognise they need to improve their team performance and are attempting to do so but tend to lack clarity regarding purpose, objectives and their approach to working. Team members monitor signals given by others to confirm, suspend, or dispel assumptions and concerns. They also pay particular attention to those in authority: the team leaders and managers who heavily influence the team. Cumulus works with potential teams to give them an enhance sense of identity, belief and improved awareness of team members: their needs and working preferences. Cumulus also coaches team members and gives the opportunity to experiment with giving and receiving feedback as well as considering delegation and decision making processes. We like to encourage management members to attend and contribute to these programs.
Working Groups: Teams that consist of a group of individuals working independently and tend to share information and work practices amongst themselves. These teams tend not to have any shared responsibilities, common goals or sense of direction and purpose. Cumulus works with these teams to enable them to develop working relationships with each other and give team members a sense of belonging and support. We give team members the opportunity to understand the benefits of working together learn how to operate as a team.
Each program has differing objectives depending upon the requirements of each specific team as well as underlining aims depending upon the nature and development stage of the team. During the initial design stages of the program, Cumulus trainers will help to identify the key needs of the team in question.
