Outdoor Leadership Training

Cumulus Outdoor Events design and deliver outdoor leadership programs across the UK and abroad. Our leadership training programs vary in nature and content to play a major role in the development and learning of team leaders, supervisors and managers. Working with our key leadership learning and development tutors, participants play a major role in defining their training requirements as well as the key leadership issues that exist within the client organisation. Content, location and nature of the program are then considered and developed to ensure the all the participants have the opportunity to maximise the learning potential of their leadership program.

In our experience, leadership development objectives that are best achieved through outdoor and cultural experiential learning include:

• Improving the self belief of leaders; enhancing their ability to lead with confidence.
• Understanding the big picture surrounding them, their teams, the organisation, their working environment and work objectives.
• How to build trust, develop rapport and gain respect as a leader.
• Empowering teams and motivating team members to improve performance levels.
• Understanding their preferred leadership style and how to adjust their style of leadership to suit different situations and people.
• Leading others; influencing staff members, delegating effectively, communicating effectively, and controlling staff members.

We find that learning programs of this type work well when leaders are removed their familiar surroundings and working practices and placed into external, unfamiliar environments. These can be physical environments, such as the outdoors and cultural environments such as within other types of organisations, unfamiliar communities and different societies.
