Canoeing
Cumulus runs canoeing activities on rivers, lakes, harbours, beaches and bays. We mainly work with people with not much canoeing experience, but also offer intermediate canoe sessions and high level coaching for those wanting to develop their skills. We can run canoeing team building days and sessions, spending all day on the water developing skills, playing games and exploring lakes, islands and rivers. Packed lunches can be arranged or meets with our support crew armed with picnic hampers or BBQs. Canoeing is also a great activity to combine with our other water sports activities such as Dorset Coasteering, powerboating, jet skiing or raft building.
Canoeing activity days include an initial briefing and safety check on dry land where we run through the basics, explain the characteristics of the canoes we'll be using on the day, fit buoyancy aids, waterproofs and load the canoes. On the water you'll an opportunity to experiment with the canoes in a confined area with the Cumulus Crew canoeing coaches offering tips and suggestions. We'll then take you on a very short trip whilst you become more comfortable with the techniques and crew mates in each canoe. After more coaching and practice as well as some challenging skill development games, we'll progress on and explore the area, developing more skills as the trip journey unfolds. During the session, people can swap canoes, change positions and get to spend time paddling with and chatting to other members in the group.
Adventure Activities are open to any age but all under 18's must be accompanied by a parent. Discounts are available for families (parents and children).
