Adventure Geo Caching
Adventure Geocaching events are run by Cumulus at specific locations around the country. Adventure Geocaching events tend to be run on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, but was also run similar events in the Wye Valley and North Wales. These GPS treasure hunts combine orienteering style navigation skills with adventure activities such as Dorset Coasteering. Geocaching experiences can also be enjoyed by couples, families and the individuals booking on certain pre-organised general public events online or over the phone.
Hidden around the area used are a series of containers, covered by leaves, half buried, hanging from trees, found semi submerged in the middle of a lake, maybe even tucked away on a cliff ledge or placed behind a statue in a museum or possibly behind a book in a library. Some containers have information on other caches. Some have some of the information to a special piece of treasure, the rest of the info to be found in other caches. They may even contain treats, gifts or requests to remove one item from one cache and placed in another. In all caches is a log for people to complete who, when and how they found the cache, what they took and maybe what they placed inside. The trick is to find, open, take whatever is inside, complete the log and return the cache to it's original hiding place without other members of the public discovering your activities.
The adventure activities used on the adventure Geocaching events vary from location to location but can involve the following activities:
| Canoeing |
Kayaking |
Climbing |
Abseiling |
Coasteering |
| Rafting |
Caving |
Ropes Course |
Waterfall Jumping |

Activities are open to any age but all under 18's must be accompanied by a parent. Discounts are available for families (parents and children).
