Dorset Coasteering with Cumulus

Coasteering in Dorset with Cumulus is an action packed Dorset coasteering experiencege are run by Cumulus at a variety of locations near Swanage and Bournemouth . Coasteering activity days and half day sessions in Dorset involve gearing up in buoyancy aids, helmets and wetsuits before walking to the coastline from the car park. After a safety briefing and checking the equipment, Cumulus Crew members will guide you along the coasteering coast. This involves climbing, scrambling, wading, stumbling, immersion and jumping into the water. This activity is very physical. Participants must be physically fit, confident in the water, good swimmers and ideally some climbing experience (possibly from our climbing and abseiling sessions).

Groups can arrange their own dates and times for sessions. Small parties, families, couples and individuals can book on to set dates by calling the office or booking on line:

This is an amazing activity. The Cumulus Crew fall over themselves to work on coasteering sessions. Coasteering is one of our more popular teambuilding activity days, along with ropes courses, powerboating, climbing and zapcats. With coasteering, you have a wild time on the activity and also have an incredible opportunity to experience some of the worlds' most important and beautiful stretches of coastline, being amongst it, clinging on to it, jumping from it and swimming in the water whilst gazing up at it. A very memorable activity.

A typical sessions looks like:

Meet at a car park near Swanage, Worth Matravers, Tyneham or Lulworth
Coasteering kit issue of wetsuits, buoyancy aids, gloves and helmet (will need own board shorts, trainers, change of clothes, towel)
Walk down to the coast
Warm up session and swim test (to check on everybody’s confidence before instructors decide on exact content of sessions)

Dorset Coasteering techniques:
Depth dunk tests
Rock traversing
Sea Swimming
Breaking waves techniques
Jumping techniques

The above will be interspersed with exploring the coastline by scrambling, swimming and jumping from the sea cliffs

Swanage based sessions include a free off road car park, changing rooms, hot drinks and biscuits!!

Coasteering is very weather and water dependant. If for any reason we have to cancel the session we'll refund your money or offer you an alternative activity such as climbing and abseiling that takes place in the vicinity. So far, since May 2010, we have only cancelled one session.

You can book coasteering activity days in Dorset online or by calling the office. If you want to come on a date that is not specified, give the office a call or email us to make other arrangements. For group bookings such as coasteering corporate days or coasteering for stag and hen parties, we can make arrangements to run coasteering in Wales, or another similar inland activity such as gorge walking or canyoning in the rivers of North Wales.

Adventure activities are open to any age but all under 18's must be accompanied by a parent. Discounts are available for families (parents and children).
