Teambuilding Event

Cumulus Outdoor Events were approached by Entatech in Telford to research and stage a sales training and team event for their IT staff. They required a unique experience for their team with high quality (but different from the norm) accommodation to accommodate their sales team, software trainers, managers, directors and support staff. All within an easy drive of Telford in Shropshire.

Their key requirements were:

• The event was to be for 40 team members
• The event was to strengthen internal working relationships
• The venue had to innovative and unique
• The event had to be different from those they have experienced in previous years
• An evening BBQ would need to be part of the experience and ideally a campfire near to the venue
• The event was to incorporate orienteering

We really enjoyed putting together and hosting this event as it was something that ended up being very different to typical hotel based team event. After a lot of research and feedback from Entatech, we established a tipi campsite on the banks of the River Wye. The venue was idyllic a wide open field, surrounded by trees, with the River Wye flowing past. On field, we set up tipis, toilet facilities, picnic tables, a campfire and BBQ. We also arranged a large marquee to be used for dining and for the bar that we brought with us, disco and karaoke for the evening entertainment. Each tipi was lined with fake fur rugs, fairy lights, beds, mattresses and duvets as well as bedside cabinets and a central fire to keep everyone snug at night.

For the event itself, we put together a series of team challenges that made best use of the surrounding countryside and an orienteering course that incorporated footpaths, bridleways and the river itself, with access gained by a flotilla of canoes. Various teams had to work in competition and with each other during different stages of the event to enable everyone to achieve success.

The event and location was very popular, providing a very different and memorable experience for the entire team.
