Powerboating Team Event
"Thank you for organising such a fantastic event last Thursday. It was a great success. Everyone is still talking abouty it, especially the RIBs."
Abi Ogunsanya : Northgate Arinso
Cumulus Outdoor Events were approached by Northgate Arinso to run an orienteering event and find a suitable venue to accommodate a team of 75 people. The team knew they wanted to take part in an orienteering event but wanted a variety of different ideas to make the event different to those they have experienced in previous years.
We put together a number of potential ideas, venues and locations around the country, including the south coast, the Chilterns and Oxford. After several meetings in London to finalise their requirements, we put together a final programme proposal that we felt would meet all of their requirements:
- Venue to accommodate 75 people
- Event to be within easy reach of London with good transport links
- The event was to be active enjoyable and memorable
- The event was to involve a series of team challenges
- The whole event was to take the form of a journey
In order to acheive the above objectives we put together an event package that involved a hotel on the outskirts of Bournemouth, close to the train station and road network. From here, the team was picked up by coaches and transported to Poole Harbour and split into teams. These teams had to make their way around Poole Harbour and the Isle of Purbeck using a variety of modes of transport and take part in a series of tea challenges. These included:
- Powerboating from Poole Harbour to Swanage
- Travelling by Steam Train from Swanage to Corfe Castle
- Walking along the Purbeck Hills and Rempstone Forest
- Team Challenges set up in and around Swanage
- High Ropes Course Challenges
- Cerebral Mental Challenges to be completed on their journey
- Finding and visiting various locations at sea and on the land around their orienteering route
The whole event was a huge success and everyone had a great time!
